Scripps set to launch new doc
Professional photographer Michael DiBari, who has spent two decades in newsrooms from New Mexico to Florida to Washington, D.C., is within weeks of earning his doctorate in journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
The final step for DiBari in what has been a five-year trek will be a defense of his dissertation on April 29.
He began the quest five years ago when he left his home in Baltimore, a nice gig as a contract photographer for the Associated Press, the Washington Post and other news outlets and friends and family to attend the School of Visual Communications at Ohio University.
He has spent the past nine months teaching and working on his dissertation. The research focuses on how Life magazine portrayed the “contention for space” during the turbulent Civil Rights movement.
